BULLETS IN THE HOOD SCREENS IN ALBANY

The acclaimed PRO-TV film, Bullets in the Hood: a Bed-Stuy Story will be screening at Albany's Madison Theater with another exciting new documentary.
Documentary filmmaker Ellie Bernstein, along with co-producer Tony Grocki, open their film, Waiting for Mercy, this January at the Madison. DCTV’s Bullets in the Hood will be shown prior to each screening. The films will be screening January 16th through the 22nd, with Waiting for Mercy'spremeire screening event on Saturday, January 17th.
Waiting for Mercy tells the story of an FBI sting operation that took place in Albany, New York during the winter, spring and summer of 2004. The complex operation was designed to entrap Yassin Aref, 37 (a refugee from Kurdistan in northern Iraq) and Mohammed Mosharref Hossain, 51, a United States citizen and an immigrant from Bangladesh. A brief Q&A with the filmmaker, Ellie Bernstein, will follow the Jan 17th premiere.

MeSHOP: YOUTH MEDIA LITERACY MASTER CLASS

Join PRO-TV for another day of social documentary screenings and talkbacks with panels of filmmakers and experts. January 23rd will focus on a screening block centered around topics PRO-TV students have chosen to explore through their films. Following the films, a panel will further delve into the issues raised and engage the audience in a Q&A session.

MEDIA FELLOWSHIP AND JUNIOR FELLOWSHIP NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS

PRO-TV is now accepting applications to its acclaimed Media Fellowship and Junior Fellowship youth programs. Learn the craft of documentary film-making through the one-year beginner program, the Junior Fellowship or the flagship two-year intensive, the Media Felowship.

Junior Fellows
March '09 - April '10, one day each week
Learn the basics of documentary filmmaking, including camera operation, editing skills, interviewing and media literacy. Students also curate DOCU-JAM, a youth documentary film festival. The year culminates in the production of a collaborative documentary. Graduates are eligible to enter the two-year Media Fellows Program.
Media Fellows
March '09 - April '11, after school one day/week & one full weekend day
Learn the art of documentary filmmaking through intensive studies in camera operation, lighting, sound, editing, research, interviewing and more. Media Fellows will make at least three films: a group project, a portrait piece and an individual documentary. Opportunities also exist for domestic and international reporting assignments.
